Practicing the Art of Patience

I have been away...busy... I have been applying for full-time work.. I will miss being a homeschooling mommie, but recent life events have "guided" me into this decision.

So please send positive, blessings my way as this HUGE change enters into the lives of my daughter and I...

It is not my intent to offend anyone, but I do not read/quote the Bible much, but it is an amazing book and I came across this wonderful poem....

For everything there is a season,

And a time for every matter under heaven:

A time to be born, and a time to die;

A time to plant, and a time to pluck up what is planted;

A time to kill, and a time to heal;A time to break down, and a time to build up;

A time to weep, and a time to laugh;

A time to mourn, and a time to dance;

A time to throw away stones, and a time to gather stones together;

A time to embrace,

And a time to refrain from embracing;

A time to seek, and a time to lose;A time to keep, and a time to throw away;

A time to tear, and a time to sew;

A time to keep silence, and a time to speak;

A time to love, and a time to hate,

A time for war, and a time for peace.-

Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

Answer me this!

I am going to my first ever raw food event!! My fiances are limited due to recent life changes, but I am super excited to have scrimped to attend my first event! I hope to see some of you there!!!

I was searching and came across this questionnaire and can't for the love and life of me remember where I found it!!!

1. Favorite home-made nut (non-dairy) milk? Almond Maca Mylk or Hempseed Vanilla

2. What are the top 3 dishes/recipes you are planning to make? Um... I'm thinking of making Shannonmarie's "better than peanut butter donuts" with my own version of cream cheese frosting. Alissa's Spinach/Cheese Calzones (sprouting the buckwheat as I type), and a huge batch of superfood cacao brownies.... they transport me to ecstatic bliss in one bite!

4. Most disastrous recipe/meal failure? Everything I make taste great!... NOT!!! I made a terrible avocado/miso soup. It was soooooooo horrifying. I couldn't even swallow one spoonful. And all I kept thinking was... "goddess! what a waste of avocados!"

5. Favorite pickled item? I'm going to have to agree, "Raw pickles, of course"

6. How do you organize your recipes? I try not to get too worried about organization b/c I can become a bit of a compulsive freak... I have a cute recycled pink journal by Greenroom Eco. and I just have them listed in there... I go thru it for inspiration. And I save some in my favorites online. I have scattered post-its in my raw cook books

7. Compost, trash, or garbage disposal? Learning more about composting... just starting out.

8. If you were stranded on an island and could only bring 3 foods...what would they be? I would have to take Avocados, Cacao, Dulse, Bananas..... oh wait.... they did say only three

9. Fondest food memory from your childhood? Watching all the women in my family prepare for a Sunday dinner in New Orleans... community, family, laughter. I didn't really love food that much and was pretty much veggie as a child so there are no real memories of the taste of food, but memories of the times we spent together. And now I dream of having a community of friends who love raw food.

10. Favorite raw ice cream? I don't have an ice cream maker... I keep it simple... .frozen bananas/ maca/ cacao/ cacao nibs/ bit of agave... simple perfection.

11. Most loved kitchen appliance? vitamix any day... anytime

12. Spice/herb you would die without? Wouldn't die without any, but I LOVE fresh basil... and fresh parsley.. okay okay they asked for ONE.

13.Recipe (Cook) book you have owned for the longest time? Um.... lost some in hurricane Katrina... but Vegan with Vengeance.

14. Favorite flavor of jam/jelly? Strawberries in the food processor with a dab of honey

15. Favorite raw (vegan) recipe to serve to an omni friend? Raw brownies......

17. Favorite meal to make or time of day to make it? On the rare occasion that I get enough sleep (it's 12:40 am as I type this) I like to rise early (5 am) and sip a fresh ice cold green juice and look at the moon out my window and dream.

18. What is sitting on top of your refrigerator? I have NOTHING of mine on the fridge. My husband has sugary junkfood cereal (as my daughter and I call it)... GF breadcrumbs... phone book

19. Name 3 items in your freezer without looking. Strawberries, E3Live, Kennedy's GF/Soy free pizza crust

20. What's on your grocery list? spinach, swiss chard, apples, 2 limes, avocados, cucumbers, lemons

21. Favorite grocery store? Whole Foods... I'm super limited where I live and Whole Foods is 1 hr 30 mins away.

22. Name a recipe you'd love to rawify (veganize), but haven't yet. New Orleans Praline.

23. Food blog you read the most. Or maybe the top 3? Ohhhhhhh this is a hard one... I don't have lots of time so I like to keep them in rotation ... like M/W/F . Hahaha.
Kristen's Raw, Rawdorable, Wylde and Raw, Raw Goddess Heathy, Raw Royalty, Raw Model, Raw Faith.. oh wait they said three.

24.Favorite vegan candy/chocolate? Raw Cacao beans and coconut oil blended with frozen bananas and nut mylk into a mylkshake..... That's my candy.

25. Most extravagant food item purchased lately? Vitamineral Green Powder

27. What is one recipe, ingredient or cooking technique that you've become familiar with in the last year that you can't imagine you ever lived without? I really got into sprouting big time. As we speak I am sprouting wheatberries and buckwheat... it's sooooooooo inexpensive and has so many health benefits.

28. Do you have a food inspiration in your life? Someone who taught you a lot about making a certain dish, or about food prep in general, or someone who taught you how to truly enjoy food? It can be someone you know or a book author, speaker...anything. Being from the South, my family was very communal when it came to cooking. This is why it so difficult for me now in PA with no family and hardly any friends around... I am always force feeding people when they come into my house! I was taught that eating is a social affair intended to be filled with love and fun. I am inspired by almost all raw recipe books and ebooks.... these wonderful raw food bloggers....and aspiring raw foodies. .

So there.. I hope you feel you know a bit more about me... I've been kinda revealing lately huh? :) I'm somehow missing a few questions (i.e. #16, #26)....oh well. Fellow blog goddesses do share your answers. I would love to read them!

TAG... you're it!

It's a good thing my daughter didn't tag me with all that GF flour on her hands!!!!

I've been tagged by the beautiful rawlicious Charissa at Raw Royalty. I am now supposed to tell you all 5 things you don't know about me... hmmmm.....

1. I HAVE to dance everyday! It's silly, but I just do.... I have to move my body in a silly, but sensual way everyday. My daughter and I put on the ipod radio and get grooving. Before you know it 30 mins have gone by and we are cracking up laughing.

2. I was born and raised in New Orleans on gumbo, jambalaya, crawfish, crabs and everything fried under the sun. People mention to me that it was "easy" for me to go raw b/c I was vegan first. And while yes that contributed to my ease into the raw foods lifestyle, my conversion from New Orleans cooked to veg/vegan cooked was nothing short of miraculous! I went cold turkey vegetarian and then cold turkey vegan once I found the wonderful insight of P.E.T.A. .

3. I design jeans! When it gets warm I start tie dying EVERYTHING. I told you I was a "modern day hippie". There is something so warm and free about a tie dyed shirt! But in the spring and summer, I do my jeans. They look AMAZING. Some say I look crazy, but living a "crazy sexy life" is what I'm allllll about! Anyone interested in getting some jeans? if so, I'll see if I can offer then by Internet. If not, I kinda just do them for people in my area.... I helped put myself through college this way!

4. My daughter almost died before she was born. I threatened miscarriage 3 times... I got the whole "this kinda thing just happens". I always knew she would make it. I went into labor 13 weeks early, but only delivered 6 weeks early. So I was in labor 7 weeks 10 hours!!!!!!!!!!! She's a miracle and a blessing... my angel.....

5. On a lighter note... I have a pet peeve for hair on the bathroom floor! I just don't like it at all. And I have really long hair.. but I make sure there's no hair on the bathroom floor when I'm done washing/combing!

As I'm looking at my favorite blogs they have ALL already been tagged! So that means, I have to finish looking at my extensive wonderful blog list to five 5 fab rawies to tag...give me a day to do this! ....

ALL health is healthy!

Those who know me KNOW that it isn't an all or nothing philosophy that I carry around... okay okay sometimes, but I LOVE all things healthy whether they are all raw or not. With that said I simply ADORE and am fortunate to know about and read religiously the life of the lovely lovely Kris Carr who is overcoming amazing feats against the battle of an incurable rare form of cancer. WE can ALL learn something from her. I think sometimes we can forget that learning is an EVERYDAY in EVERY WAY kinda thing. We NEVER stop evolving .. never stop growing....

Well, I am so super happy to announce that there is a community she has created and you can join!! It's a wonderfully energetic place. I don't get to spend nearly as much time there as I would like, but it is lovely and NOT for 100% raw persons. I have gotten emails from fellow raw fooders and aspiring raw fooders who feel like they don't "belong" at GI2MR. WEll firstly, you "belong" everywhere!! Secondly, this site is not about raw food so much as it's about health. Check it out here at Crazy Sexy Life . And duh! who doesn't want a crazy sexy life!!!?!?! I sure do.

I just thought I'd stop in really quickly to give you something else to look up. I know you will LOVE and be inspired by this amazing woman.

Blogger Awards & My Hiatus

The beautiful and lovely Kristen bestowed the Inspirational Blogger Award.

"The Inspirational Blogger Award is, "For those bloggers who inspire others through their words and actions. With a positive attitude, and uplifting spirit these bloggers make the blogosphere a better place, and encourage others to do the same. This award is for bloggers who rise up to set an example but continue to reach out and support others.”

I am honored...flattered... and in awe. I feel so great to be able to inspire anyone. I remember how hard the beginning of this journey was for me....

I get the privilege of giving the award to others, but it seems every blog that I read has ALREADY gotten one. So I give the Inspirational Award to all of YOU. All who read the blog... all of you who take the time to email and the time to change your lives... You are the reason that I still write. I don't have a business to promote (though one day I dream)... I write simply to motivate, inspire and encourage others to know that this IS possible if you want it.
Onto something more GRAND. My daughter has been speaking in 13 word sentences!!!!!!! yes yes yes yes....

I haven't done a "proper" workout in almost five weeks, but got back on the workout wagon this week. I am sore, but it's great. I have been sooooo busy with other things in my life that I let it slip... that can NOT happen again. My workouts are a part of me like green smoothies... without the entire package... I feel incomplete... so here's to green smoothies and working out!

Oh yea... I'm back to daily posting..oh yea I know you missed me! (I say that in the most humble way imaginable)
